Where are you located?

Our business is registered in Brentwood, Essex.

Which locations do you serve?

We are proud to serve customers across the following areas: Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk, Kent, and Cambridgeshire. If you are nearby but outside these counties, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Do you have the appropriate insurance?

Yes. We are a fully insured business and hold comprehensive public liability coverage. We are happy to provide a copy of our insurance certificate upon request.

What exactly is lift-up staircase storage?

It's a clever way to unlock the wasted space under your staircase. We professionally create a reinforced, hinged hatch directly from your existing staircase steps. This hatch lifts effortlessly on gas struts, revealing a large, usable storage area perfect for shoes, vacuum cleaners, sports equipment, and more.

How does the hatch open? Is it heavy to lift?

Not at all. We install high-quality gas struts, similar to those on a car boot. These struts support the hatch's weight, allowing it to open smoothly with a gentle lift and stay open securely. Closing it is just as easy.

What can I store underneath the stairs?

The space is surprisingly large and versatile. Customers commonly store:

- Shoes, boots, and wellies

- Vacuum cleaners, mops, and cleaning supplies

- Sports equipment (golf clubs, tennis rackets)

- Children's toys, prams, and school bags

- Suitcases and other bulky household items

Is the inside of the storage area finished?

Our standard installation provides access to the raw space underneath your stairs, which typically consists of your home's original floorboards or concrete and the reverse side of the plasterboard walls. For those seeking a more polished look, we are happy to discuss bespoke finishing options for an additional fee.

Will this work with my staircase?

Our system is compatible with the vast majority of standard timber staircases in UK homes, including straight flights and those with a turn (winder). We cannot, however, install this solution on staircases made from concrete, metal, or glass, or on most spiral staircases.

Is it safe? Will creating a hatch weaken my staircase?

Absolutely. Safety is our number one priority. Our installation process involves building a new, robust timber framework around the opening. This not only maintains the staircase's structural integrity but often reinforces it. All work is carried out by our experienced and qualified fitters.

Is there a weight limit on the stairs after the hatch is fitted?

No. Your staircase will be just as strong, if not stronger, than before. Thanks to our reinforcement process, you can continue to use your stairs as normal with no weight limitations whatsoever.

I have carpet on my stairs. What happens to it?

Our skilled fitters handle your existing carpet with expert care. It is precisely cut and refitted to create a neat, durable, and virtually invisible finish, leaving it looking untouched.

Can you install on stairs with a hardwood, laminate, or LVT finish?

At present, our lift-up storage system is exclusively designed for installation on carpeted staircases. This is because our specific method is perfected for a seamless carpet finish. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee this same high-quality, lasting result on hard surfaces like wood or LVT at this time.

Should I book my installation before or after my new carpet is laid?

We recommend booking your installation after your new carpet has been laid. However, if this is not possible, we can complete the work beforehand and will provide a PDF guide with clear instructions for your carpet fitter.

What about pipes or electrical wires running under the stairs?

This is a crucial part of our initial assessment. Before any work begins, we thoroughly check for any plumbing, wiring, or gas pipes. We will only proceed if we can work around these services safely. In the rare event that services prevent installation, we will inform you immediately.

Will the installation void my 10-year new-build structural warranty (e.g., NHBC)?

This is an excellent question. Our installation method is meticulously designed to preserve, and often enhance, the structural integrity of your staircase. A warranty provider would typically only refuse a future claim if a defect was proven to be a direct result of the alteration. Given how we reinforce the structure, this is a highly unlikely scenario.

For complete assurance, we strongly advise you to contact your warranty provider before installation for a definitive answer regarding your specific policy. While we cannot be held responsible for changes to your warranty, we stand by the quality of our own work with our comprehensive 10-year guarantee on all materials and installation.

Do you sell your storage system as a self-installation kit?

To guarantee the quality, safety, and correct operation of our storage system, it must be professionally installed by our team. The exact parts needed vary depending on the specific structure of your staircase, which our technicians assess and select during the fitting process. For this reason, we do not sell parts separately.

My staircase is open underneath. Can you build the wall to enclose it

No, we do not build the main wall to enclose the side of an open staircase. This would need to be completed by a joiner or builder before we install our storage system.

How do I get a quote for my staircase?

Getting a quote is simple and convenient. The first step is to visit our online quotation page where you'll be guided through a short, easy-to-follow quiz. This helps us gather all the essential details about your staircase and your requirements.

What information will I need to provide?

The online process will ask you a few simple questions about your staircase (for example, if it is straight or has a turn). The most important part is providing a few clear photos of your staircase from different angles. This allows our expert team to assess the job accurately without needing an initial home visit.

Why do you use photos instead of doing a home survey?

Our remote quotation process is designed to save you time and provide a faster service. By using photos, we can accurately assess over 90% of staircases, allowing us to send you a fixed-price quote without you needing to schedule an appointment or wait for a home visit.

What happens after I submit my information and photos?

Once we receive your details, our team will review them carefully. We will then email you a detailed, no-obligation, fixed-price quote for the complete installation.

Is the price you quote final?

Yes. The price we send you is a fixed quote for the entire job, including all materials, professional installation, and our 10-year warranty. The price we quote is the final price you pay, with no hidden costs.

What photos do I need to provide for a quote?

To ensure we can provide an accurate quote and confirm compatibility, please send us the following photos, making sure the staircase is clear of any personal items first:

- A Photo From the Front: Please provide one picture showing the bottom 4 to 5 steps of your staircase. It is important that the newel posts and handrails are fully visible (If applicable).

- A Photo of the Rear & Separating Wall: We also need one picture of the staircase or main wall that runs behind your staircase. This allows us to confirm the structure of the stairs and calculate the usable storage space underneath the staircase. We typically require the separating wall to be at least 60cm in height to allow for sufficient storage space.

- For Specific Layouts: If your staircase has a WC underneath it or you cannot access the back of the stairs (doesn't have a cupboard), please provide us with a photo of this from the side, clearly showing what is there with the staircase in shot.

What does your quotation include?

We believe in transparent, all-inclusive pricing with no surprises. Your fixed-price quotation is a complete, start-to-finish package that covers:

- All High-Quality Materials: The robust timber framework, premium gas struts and hinges.

- Professional Installation: All work is carried out by our own skilled and experienced fitters.

- Thorough Clean-Up: We respect your home and ensure the work area is left clean and tidy.

Our 10-Year Warranty: A comprehensive guarantee on the installation and all components.

Do you offer finance payment plans?

Yes, we offer our customers 0% finance plans through our partner, PayItMonthly. Should you require a bespoke finance plan, we would be happy to tailor one to your specific needs. Our payment plans are flexible, with repayment terms available from 2 to 12 months. Please note that a minimum upfront deposit of 30% is required. If you have any questions or wish to proceed with the finance application, please get in touch and we will be happy to arrange this for you.

Do you need to visit my home for a survey before installation?

Not usually. For your convenience, our process is streamlined. In most cases, we can accurately assess your staircase and provide a fixed-price quote based on a few photos that you send to us. If we spot anything that needs a closer look, we will let you know.

Is there anything I need to do to prepare for the installation?

Very little. To ensure our fitters have a safe and clear area to work, we just ask that you remove any personal items—such as shoes, bags, or ornaments—from the staircase and the immediate hallway area. We bring our own dust sheets and take care of everything else.

How long does the installation take?

A standard installation is surprisingly quick and is typically completed in just 3-4 hours, meaning minimal disruption to your day.

Will the installation process be messy?

We pride ourselves on a clean service. Our fitters use dust sheets to protect all surrounding areas and are equipped with dust-extracting tools to minimise airborne dust. We always clean up thoroughly, leaving your home as we found it.

How much does lift-up staircase storage cost?

Our standard installation starts from £400 inc. VAT. We find that the vast majority of staircases we assess fall into this price category. However, as every home is different, we provide a bespoke quote for each project to account for any unique requirements. This ensures you get a fair, accurate, and fixed price with no hidden surprises.
